The clock hands approach midnight. The wedding reception draws to a close after a day of vows, cocktails, dancing, and smiles. Naturally, you, your loved one, and your wedding guests stay out on the dance floor, shouting for an encore: “One more song! One more song!” What song will get everyone up and moving one last time on this perfect day? This week, we here at Dream City Music picked three of our favorite songs to end the wedding events on a literal high note!

1. “Sweet Caroline” – Neil Diamond

Few songs are as timeless as “Sweet Caroline.” Put it on at a baseball game or at a hotel bar; the crowd will certainly go wild! The distinctive bass guitar sounds that begin the song instill nostalgic warmth most everyone can relate to. The other instruments build with subtle anticipation as the legendary chorus approaches. Those listeners who may not know the refrain lyrics will still surely know to sing along to the “bah, bah, bah” of the brass. On your wedding day, the line “good times never seemed so good” is perhaps never rings so truthfully!

2. “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” – Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes

This tune is best known for its iconic use as the theme song for the movie Dirty Dancing. With chiming synthesizers, ringing guitars, and echoing drums, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” has a distinct and enduring 1980s sound. Bill Medley’s bellowing voice and Jennifer Warnes’ soaring vocals complement one another elegantly. The lyrics of the song even sum up the gratitude between a newlywed couple beautifully, too: “‘Cause I’ve had the time of my life / No, I’ve never felt this way before / Yes, I swear it’s the truth / and I owe it all to you.” And if you’re looking for a version with a more modern sound, The Black Eyed Peas sample “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” in their infectious dance hit “The Time (Dirty Bit).”

3. “Piano Man” – Billy Joel

Billy Joel and his ballad “Piano Man” are absolute legends in popular culture and an excellent way to make your wedding day just as legendary! No matter if your guests are still on the dance floor, over at their tables, or relaxing at the bar, everyone perks up their ears to this tune. The sound of the piano, harmonica, and accordion waltzes charmingly. Yet, the song is certainly slightly bittersweet, too. Likewise, the wedding day is drawing to a close, but it was filled with extraordinary moments. No song captures the energy of a perfect party now ending quite like “Piano Man” does.

But before you can get to the end of the wedding day, there are many plans and memories to make! And Dream City Music is here to help make your plans go smoothly and make your memories last forever!
